Biogas Innovation

Converting organic waste into clean cooking fuel — reducing deforestation, indoor air pollution, and carbon emissions in rural Rakhine.

Clean Energy from Organic Waste

Millions of rural households in Rakhine State rely on firewood and charcoal for cooking, contributing to deforestation and exposing families to harmful indoor smoke. Our biogas programme converts agricultural and household organic waste into clean, affordable cooking fuel using simple digester technology that communities can build and maintain themselves.

How It Works

01

Organic Waste Input

Household food scraps, animal manure, and agricultural residues are fed into a sealed biogas digester.

02

Anaerobic Digestion

Microorganisms break down the organic matter in the absence of oxygen, producing methane-rich biogas.

03

Clean Cooking Fuel

The biogas is piped directly to household stoves, providing a clean, reliable, and free source of cooking energy.

04

Organic Fertiliser

The remaining digestate is a nutrient-rich organic fertiliser that improves soil health and crop yields.
